Following the collapse of the Brexit talks Labour MEP Alex Mayer said:
“I’m not surprised the talks have reached stalemate. It’s not possible to negotiate with a Prime Minister who has no authority and no willingness to compromise.
It’s clear the Tories are now focussed on who succeeds Mrs May, rather than the future of the country.
Labour could never back a deal that is weak on protection of environmental, food and animal welfare standards and that fails to safeguards jobs.
My view is the way to break the deadlock is a General Election or a People’s Vote.”
