Autism Bedfordshire are working their socks off to raise vital funds.
Luton MEP Alex Mayer put her best foot forward wearing her silliest socks to kick off “Silly Sock Day 2019” as part of this “World Autism Week”.
Ms Mayer met members of the Autism Bedfordshire Social Group who were wearing bright, stripy, spotty and mismatched socks to discuss how the local charity supports them to lead an independent and fulfilling lives. She then awarded the silliest sock award.
There are over 6,000 autistic children and adults across the Bedfordshire. Without the right support, autistic people can miss out on education, employment and social interaction.
Ms Mayer said: “I hope that lots of socks will mean that Autism Bedfordshire raises lots of cash. Everyone is certainly rocking their silly and wacky socks here. This is a great, simple way to have a bit of fun, and raise funds for a worthy local cause at the same time.”
