Petition that blew up Parliament takes East of England by storm

Posted by Alex Mayer on 24th March 2019

An anti-Brexit backlash is taking over the internet. A petition calling for parliament to revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU, has gained over four million signatures and the number keeps rising.

At the time of writing 422312 residents from across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Essex and Hertfordshire had signed the online petition, which according to the Petitions Committee has been growing at the fastest rate of signing ever.

So many people have logged on that they crashed the Parliament’s petitions website several times.

Euro MP Alex Mayer said: “There is a growing movement to stop the Brexit mess. More and more people are telling me they feel the last two and a half years have been a national humiliation. But there is still time to pause and think again which is why I’m backing this petition. It is time to put this back to the people.”
