As tensions rise after India carried out an aerial bombing over the disputed border in Kashmir, Luton Euro MP Alex Mayer met Maleeka Bokhari, a Pakistan Government Law and Justice Minister.
It is the first time that Indian aircraft have crossed the Kashmir Line of Control to strike in decades.
Ms Mayer said: “We discussed the attack which it seems is most likely to be for Indian domestic consumption ahead of the general election there. But it is irresponsible to put regional peace and stability at risk. It is important that tensions don’t rise and the rhetoric is dialled down. The last thing innocent local people need is to get caught up in any escalation in hostilities”
