Suffolk Euro MP Alex Mayer made a heartfelt plea to generous hearted Bury St Edmunds shoppers to pen a message of love, to help fight heart disease.
From a Shakespearean style sonnet to a simple emoji, local residents can set pulses racing by heading into their local British Heart Foundation shop and buying a heart shaped “Love Note” which will be displayed in the shop window until Valentines Day.
Sadly, heart and circulatory disease is the UK’s second biggest cause of death, responsible for almost 125,000 deaths each year in England, killing one in five people.
All money raised from the sales of Love Notes will go towards the BHF’s vital research to help beat heartbreak forever.
Ms Mayer, who worked for the BHF before becoming an MEP said: “Love is in the air so I know I can count on local residents to beat a path to their BHF shop and pen a heartfelt message. Together we can keep more hearts beating in East Anglia.”
Customers can also take a picture with their Love Note and share it with the BHF on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter – using the hashtag #BHFLoveNote.
