Dedicated Dunstable postmen and women will be thanked by Bedfordshire Euro MP Alex Mayer for their first class efforts this Christmas.
Ms Mayer will see for herself how posties go the extra mile to sort and deliver letters and parcels during the busy Christmas period as she is given a tour of the sorting office by
Robbie Sweet, Royal Mail Delivery Office Manager. The Euro MP will also get hands on as she tries sorting letters into racks.
The festive season is Royal Mail’s busiest period, as millions of people shop online for gifts and send Christmas cards and parcels. 100 staff sort, process and deliver mail in Dunstable.
Ms Mayer said: “At no other time is the hard work and dedication of postmen and women clearer than during the festive period. There is a huge amount of effort and dedication that goes into delivering a first class Christmas all over the country.”
Robbie Sweet, Royal Mail Delivery Office Manager, said: “It is a pleasure to show Alex our Christmas operation and to hear her kind words of encouragement and support. We are extremely proud of our postmen and women for all their hard work during the festive season and for continuing our proud history of delivering Christmas mail.”
