Calling all Chelmsford residents, do you have any tables, chairs, dressers or drawers that need a new lease of life? Essex MEP Alex Mayer launched a new appeal for old furniture this Friday at MillRace Furniture Co-Operative as part of Co-operatives Fortnight.
MillRace takes in both modern and antique furniture and provides learning opportunities to repair, renew and restore for people with Mental Health conditions in order to help give them new skills to help get them back in to work. The charity has been delivering front line services for over 25 years. However a constant supply of furnishings is needed in order for the service to continue.
Ms Mayer will try her hand at repairing and polishing to see the skills needed and to get a feel for the therapeutic benefits of restoration.
Alex Mayer MEP said “It’s great to see this co-operative doing vital work teaching skills to some of the most vulnerable members of society, but donations of furniture from the public are vital to keep this going. With the support of the public MillRace could really polish up.”
Those that wish to make a furniture donation to MillRace can do so by contacting the shop on 01245 351636.
